Developers at AICodeWith have launched a browser-based game titled Taipei GTA, available online for free. The game reportedly cost around ,000 in tokens to develop and has attracted 1.2 million concurrent users within three days of its release. It allows players to explore iconic locations in Taipei, such as Ximending and Taipei Main Station, featuring low-poly graphics and a nostalgic charm reminiscent of early-2000s retro gaming. The game was designed using the AICodeWith platform and incorporates various models and technologies, including DeepSeek, Qwen, Kimi, and GLM.

In Android app development, maintaining connectivity, security, and debugging capabilities is crucial. When connecting to a London edge server, all requests must be visible to QA teams, but using a consumer VPN can hinder debugging proxies. A debugging proxy allows developers to inspect request headers and modify data by terminating TLS on their workstation. In contrast, a VPN creates an encrypted tunnel for all device traffic but prevents debugging proxies from intercepting packets. TorGuard is a hybrid solution that combines a VPN with SOCKS5 and V2Ray endpoints, allowing for traffic encryption and application-specific proxying. mitmproxy is an open-source tool that enables scripted request manipulation and can intercept various traffic types. Tailscale uses a WireGuard-based mesh network to provide stable private IPs for devices without needing port forwarding. HTTP Toolkit offers a rootless interception method for Android, directing traffic to a laptop without complex configurations. WireGuard is a high-speed self-hosted VPN that encrypts packets but does not allow for inspection. To inspect traffic while changing geographic egress, developers can run mitmproxy on a laptop and connect it to a VPN, ensuring the proxy is closest to the app. For debugging Android HTTPS traffic, a proxy is preferred for reading or rewriting requests, while a VPN is better for changing exit IPs or encrypted routing. SOCKS5 masks IP addresses but does not encrypt traffic.

Laurie Kirk, a Google researcher and former Microsoft reverse engineer, argues that the Windows NT kernel is superior to Linux in several aspects, particularly in its architecture for managing resources and access permissions. She emphasizes that her critique focuses on the system architecture rather than the user interface of Windows 11. Kirk raises concerns about Linux's suitability for AI agents due to its complex security model, while praising NT's object-based design and security framework. She speculates on an alternate history where Microsoft had created an "Open NT," allowing for customizable components, but acknowledges the challenges of maintaining forks in operating systems. Critics of NT highlight its performance and reliability issues, while Linux's open-source nature has contributed to its dominance in servers and cloud computing. Kirk suggests that future operating systems may need to balance the defined resource types of NT with the flexibility of Linux, especially as AI technology evolves.

LastPass has identified a sophisticated scheme targeting users of its Authenticator app, involving SEO poisoning and deceptive GitHub pages that distribute malicious ZIP files disguised as legitimate software. Users searching for "LastPass Authenticator download" may encounter these counterfeit pages, which redirect them to a malicious server delivering a ZIP file containing vsdbg.exe and vsdbg.dll. The executable is a legitimate Microsoft debugging tool exploited to execute the malicious DLL through DLL sideloading, allowing the malware to run undetected. Named Rapuncel by security researchers from Delphos, this malware is undetectable by antivirus engines and targets a hardcoded list of 145 antivirus and endpoint security products, disabling them upon detection. Rapuncel harvests sensitive information, including saved passwords from over 25 web browsers, cryptocurrency wallet files from more than 30 applications, and session tokens from platforms like Discord and Steam. It also captures screenshots and compiles a profile of the infected system, uploading the stolen data to an attacker-controlled server. The malware includes a kernel driver that intercepts web traffic, allowing for advertisement injection and search result manipulation. This campaign has been active for several months, with LastPass vaults remaining unaffected. Users are advised to download applications only from trusted sources. Rapuncel establishes persistence on infected machines by installing itself as a Windows service that starts with the system and terminates activated security products. Removing the kernel driver requires booting into Safe Mode or using external recovery tools, as standard Windows utilities cannot eliminate software operating at that level.

Aniimo is not a gacha game, as it lacks traditional banner systems. It monetizes through a cosmetics shop where players can buy Lumin Crystals with real money for outfits and accessories. Some cosmetics are available for free, but premium items are often behind a paywall. The game also features shop bundles and a battle pass called the "Companion Handbook," which includes free and premium tiers. Players can acquire Aniimo by using Aniipods to capture creatures, hatching eggs, completing events, or progressing through the battle pass. Legendary Aniimo can be captured by collecting unique tokens and using a special Aniipod.

Windows announced Project Zenith, a developer-optimized Windows 11 experience designed for devices with over 64 GB of unified memory and memory bandwidth exceeding 250 GB/s. The project will initially launch with AMD’s Ryzen AI Halo and will include preconfigured Windows setups and a curated selection of development tools. Devices under Project Zenith will allow developers to run models with over 30 billion parameters locally, reducing reliance on cloud resources. Enhancements to Windows 11 include improved performance and a cleaner workspace tailored for coding, with features like pinned Windows Terminal and Visual Studio Code. Project Zenith also integrates the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) and provides a secure environment for developing agentic applications, leveraging OS-enforced identity and Microsoft Execution Containers (MXC). The initiative aims to offer a consistent ready-to-code experience across various devices while responding to developer needs and evolving with advancements in AI and software development.
