Windows 11 Notepad now lets you create tables like in Microsoft Word, and it’s free

Windows 11’s Notepad now includes table generation capabilities, allowing users to create organized notes and lists. This feature is being rolled out and will be available to all users soon. Notepad previously received an update for rich text formatting, enabling options like bold and italic. The new table feature allows users to easily add tables by clicking a button on the formatting toolbar and selecting the number of columns and rows. Notepad supports Markdown-style tables and offers user-friendly editing options. Performance tests show that the new features do not negatively impact the application's efficiency. Users can disable new features through the Settings menu, including formatting tools and the file recovery feature. Notepad also integrates Microsoft 365 Copilot, which can be turned off in the Settings.

Google Drive’s new AI audio summaries make PDFs effortless

Google Drive has introduced a feature that allows users to generate audio summaries of lengthy documents, which can be accessed through a new button in the toolbar. These summaries range from two to ten minutes and are designed to capture the essential points of documents, eliminating the need for extensive reading. The feature, called audio overviews, is currently available only in English and is being rolled out to select paid Workspace tiers, including Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Google One AI Premium, AI Ultra, and AI Ultra for Business. Users can retrieve audio files from an “Audio overviews” folder in their Drive. The rollout will begin with Rapid Release domains, while Scheduled Release domains will start seeing the feature from November 12, 2025, with a potential delay of up to 15 days for full availability.

Announcing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.7070 (Dev & Beta Channels)

Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.7070 (KB5070300) has been released to both the Dev and Beta Channels, offering the same builds for Windows 11, version 25H2. Users in the Dev Channel can switch to the Beta Channel while both channels are on the same build. The update includes new features such as customizable default dashboards in Widgets, numbered badges on the Widget Board navigation bar, enhancements to Quick Machine Recovery, updates to Smart App Control allowing toggling without a clean install, reintroduction of people icons in File Explorer, and temporary disabling of certain features in File Explorer. How to record your screen in Windows 10 or 11 – in just a few clicks
