Windows 10 extension, teenage Vegas hacker released, Boyd Gaming hacked

Microsoft will provide free extended security updates for Windows 10 users in the European Economic Area (EEA) in response to advocacy from Euroconsumers. A 17-year-old hacker, previously involved in cyberattacks on Las Vegas casinos, has been released into his parents' custody after a family court ruling. Boyd Gaming reported a cyberattack that compromised employee data but did not affect its business operations. Researchers from Binarly warned of vulnerabilities in Supermicro firmware that could allow attackers to gain control over server systems. Salesforce's Agentforce platform has a critical flaw, ForcedLeak, that could enable data extraction from its CRM tools. Kido International experienced a cyberattack that leaked sensitive information about children and parents. Volvo North America disclosed a data breach due to a ransomware attack on its supplier, Miljödata, affecting employee data. A critical flaw in the ZendTo file transfer application could allow users to access sensitive data by manipulating file paths.

How I easily transfer files between my Android phone and Mac

QuickDrop is a free file transfer application designed for sharing files between Android and MacOS devices. Users need an Android device, a MacOS device, and a shared wireless network to use the app. Installation involves downloading QuickDrop from the Google Play Store on both devices. To transfer files, users launch QuickDrop on both devices, select the MacOS device from the list on the Android device, choose a file to send, and accept the transfer on the MacOS device. For sending files from MacOS to Android, users must add QuickDrop to the MacOS Share menu, enable it, and then select it when sharing a file. The transferred files are saved in the Downloads folder on the receiving device.

Microsoft has introduced a new transfer tool to assist users in migrating files and settings from Windows 10 or Windows 11 PCs to a Windows 11 machine. The tool can successfully transfer personal files such as documents, photos, videos, and user settings like wallpaper and themes. However, it does not transfer system and OS files, OneDrive files (which require separate sign-in), installed applications, saved passwords, or data from BitLocker-encrypted drives (which must be decrypted first). The transfer tool is available on both Windows 10 and 11, but transfers can only be made to a Windows 11 PC, and a Microsoft account is necessary for the process. Microsoft has also provided a step-by-step guide for users to facilitate the transfer.
