Google Wallet’s new feature saves Android users from fumbling for passes

Google Wallet is introducing a feature called “Set up nearby notifications” that activates notifications for relevant tickets, cards, or boarding passes as users approach their destination. This feature aims to reduce the stress of searching through passes at critical moments. Users are also receiving automated flight check-in alerts that prompt them to check in ahead of their airport arrival, utilizing information from confirmation emails in Gmail. Google Wallet is helping Android users effortlessly catch their plane or train

Google's recent Play Services update, version 25.41, enhances the Wallet app for Android 16 users by integrating real-time notifications for travel journeys. Users will receive Live Updates on their lock screens and home screens regarding train schedules, flight statuses, and event information. Initially limited to food deliveries and ride-sharing services, this feature aims to keep users informed about their travel itineraries. The update was first announced during Google’s I/O event in May and was initially rolled out in Canada and India. Live Update notifications can be accessed easily on the lock screen or through a dedicated chip on the home screen, providing timely alerts about travel plans, including delays or confirmations of on-time departures.
