Google is refining its voice search functionality in the Google app, introducing a toggle for the "Auto search" feature that allows users to control how their voice queries are processed. This update enables users to disable automatic searches that occur when they pause their speech, allowing them to complete their thoughts without interruption. The new interface includes a pill-shaped toggle above four redesigned buttons and features two animations: a chunky waveform pattern when Auto search is activated and a fluid, side-scrolling waveform when it is disabled. The timeline for the official rollout of these features is uncertain, as the information is based on an APK teardown, which may not reflect all final public releases.

Microsoft is facing scrutiny due to a critical remote execution vulnerability, CVE-2026-41089, rated at 9.8, affecting Windows Server domain controllers from version 2012 onward. This vulnerability allows unauthenticated users on the same network to send malformed UDP packets to a domain controller, potentially granting unauthorized system access or causing a reboot, leading to denial-of-service scenarios. The vulnerable service is Netlogon, and there are no immediate mitigations available; patches will be released on May 12. The vulnerability could allow attackers to create multiple accounts with various access levels, compromising the security of entire networks. Cybersecurity experts recommend patching all linked domain controllers simultaneously. The vulnerability is caused by a buffer overflow in the Netlogon service due to a field in a network packet exceeding its expected size. A GitHub repository exists with proof-of-concept code that can crash the LSASS service. Additionally, Microsoft is in conflict with security researcher Chaotic Eclipse, who has published zero-day exploits following a breakdown in negotiations.

Windows has a bug that affects HDR calibration for multi-monitor setups, causing incorrect peak brightness data to be applied across different displays. This results in distorted colors and highlights, particularly impacting gaming experiences where games draw settings from Windows. The issue is suspected to be triggered by the device entering standby mode, waking from sleep, or physically swapping display cables. Microsoft has not officially recognized or fixed this problem, leaving users to manually check their display profiles or restart their systems as a workaround.
