The most gloriously raucous Warhammer game on Steam is bringing back an iconic mission, but not as you remember it

Warhammer Vermintide 2 is set to receive a new map titled Return to the Reik, launching on November 20 as a free update. This map reimagines the River Reik mission from the original game and includes significant enhancements such as altered terrain, new encounters, additional side paths, and extended combat sequences. Players will face both Skaven and Chaos enemies, and the gameplay will feature functional cannons on a ship, allowing players to fend off attackers. The level will also include hidden areas for exploration. Developer Fatshark is already planning future content for the game.

Vermintide 2 is bringing back an iconic map from the first game, and it’s not an April Fool’s joke this time

A decade has passed since players first explored Ubersreik in Vermintide. Developer Fatshark is commemorating this anniversary by adding a classic level to Vermintide 2. The game features characters fighting against a Skaven invasion. The upcoming expansion, Return to the Reik, will be released on November 20, 2025, and introduces boat-based gameplay. The Geheimnistnacht Event will run from October 23 to November 3, offering double XP and quests for new rewards. Another double XP period will coincide with the Return to the Reik expansion. The Gifts of the Wolf-Father event will return in December.

Warhammer: Vermintide Versus is more like a Dark Souls invasion than a multiplayer mode, but that can be fun too

Vermintide Versus is a new PvP+E mode for Fatshark's Vermintide 2, where two teams of four alternate between playing as the Pactsworn, a variety of special skaven foes, and the Ubersreik five, the game's iconic heroes. The heroes aim to progress through levels and accumulate points while battling regular enemies and opposing players disguised as special foes. The Pactsworn includes characters like Ratling Gunners, Warpfire Throwers, Poison Wind Globadiers, Packmasters, Gutter Runners, and a Bile Troll. Success in this mode relies on coordination, ambush tactics, and map knowledge. The Ubersreik five must maintain heightened awareness to counter special enemies. The gameplay experience is enhanced by strategic discussions about ambush placements. An open beta is available from August 21 to September 2, with the full version expected to release soon based on player feedback.
