RatHat Android Malware Uses AI to Target Banking Credentials in Real Time

The malware captures raw touch coordinates to reconstruct PINs and unlock patterns, bypassing screenshot protections. It also includes persistence mechanisms that prevent uninstallation by presenting a fake Google Play failure overlay and automatically reinstalling itself if removed.

Additionally, the malware may install secondary applications or a VPN to reroute internet traffic through attacker-controlled servers, exposing sensitive data. The NCTAU advises users to only install apps from trusted sources, avoid unknown APK files, refrain from granting Accessibility permissions to unfamiliar apps, regularly review installed applications, and keep their devices updated.
