The Windows 11 25H2 update is expected to debut in October 2023. It may be a minor update compared to the 24H2 update, as indicated by findings in Windows 11 build 27842, which include new entries in the appraiserRes.dll file. The entry "GE25H2" confirms plans for the 25H2 update, while "26200=FTALLCompatIndicatorHelper_WritingGE25H2" indicates that the build number for this update will be 26200, a slight increase from the current build number of 26100. Microsoft's update strategy appears to alternate between major updates and smaller follow-ups, allowing for refinement of existing features. The existence of the 25H2 update has not been officially confirmed by Microsoft.

The transition to cloud-native endpoint management is changing Windows device management, particularly regarding Windows Update. IT administrators are increasingly relying on Windows Update services for security patches and features. Microsoft has introduced Windows Update for Business to give IT administrators better control over update policies through Group Policy or Mobile Device Management (MDM). Effective management requires understanding which policies to implement for specific desktops. The best approach for managing monthly updates is through servicing rings, which group Windows devices and assign specific update cadences and policies. This method allows controlled rollouts of updates, enabling administrators to prioritize stability and minimize disruption by testing updates on pilot groups before wider deployment. Windows Update for Business manages three update channels: the General Availability Channel for immediate feature updates, the Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) for stability-focused devices, and the Windows Insider Program for testing updates. Administrators can control these channels using specific Group Policy Object (GPO) settings. Two primary update release types are managed: quality updates, which are released monthly and can be deferred for up to 30 days, and feature updates, which are annual and can be deferred for up to 365 days. Administrators can pause the deployment of updates temporarily for up to 35 days. Driver updates are also managed through Windows Update, with options to include or exclude them in monthly quality updates. Optional updates, available monthly, can be controlled using specific GPO and MDM settings.

Minecraft features a diverse ecosystem of mobs that enhance gameplay, ranging from helpful to hostile creatures. A player named u/InfiniteSwimming861 introduced a new mob resembling a portal that allows players to enter it, similar to traditional portals. The community engaged with this concept, discussing scenarios and strategies related to the mob. User u/DarylHimself raised concerns about novice players accidentally entering the portal and ending up in the end dimension with minimal resources. Other users suggested enhancements to the mob, such as incorporating a spawner for silverfish. The creator also developed another mob called "enderchester," which collects broken blocks for players. Recent updates from developers have introduced new cow variants and adjustments to their update strategy, aligning with community desires for more frequent updates.

Patching is a critical responsibility for IT departments to protect organizational data. Windows Autopatch is a cloud-based service from Microsoft that automates the update management process for Windows, Microsoft 365 applications, Microsoft Edge, and Microsoft Teams, enhancing security and productivity. It integrates with Microsoft Intune and utilizes Windows Update for Business to manage patching for Windows devices. Organizations must acquire the necessary licensing for Windows Autopatch and ensure devices are registered for the update management cycle. Key features include deployment rings, which determine the percentage of devices receiving updates, and update settings that dictate update behavior. Reporting capabilities provide insights into update status and notifications. Windows Autopatch creates configuration profiles for managing updates and establishes deployment profiles for monthly and yearly updates.

Windows 10 was introduced with features like the revamped Edge browser, virtual desktops, and a reintroduced Start menu, but faced significant user backlash due to aggressive update policies that disrupted users' work and caused data loss. This led to lawsuits against Microsoft, including a settlement of ,000 for a case where a forced update rendered a user's computer unusable. In response to criticism, Microsoft made changes in April 2019 to enhance the update experience, allowing users to pause updates for up to 35 days, introducing Active Hours to prevent automatic installations during critical times, and improving transparency in the update process.

Mojang has announced the discontinuation of VR support for Minecraft on PlayStation VR, effective March 2025. This decision comes four years after the game's VR mode was launched on the platform. Players will still be able to access Minecraft without the VR component, and all previous Marketplace purchases will remain intact. PSVR users can maintain their VR experience by not updating the game and operating their PS4 in offline mode, although they will not receive future enhancements or support. Mojang plans to shift to a more frequent update schedule for Minecraft, moving away from a single major update each summer. Currently, PC is the only platform that will continue to offer the full Minecraft VR experience.
