Android is introducing a feature called Expressive Calling in the Phone by Google app, allowing users to specify the reason for their calls, including marking them as urgent. This feature is currently available to select beta testers. When a call is marked as urgent, the recipient receives a notification that reads “It’s urgent!” along with an animated siren emoji, and the urgent designation remains in the call log if the call is missed. This feature aims to improve the calling experience by providing context and is particularly useful for users with Do Not Disturb mode activated. However, both the caller and recipient must be using the Phone app beta for the feature to work, limiting its current availability.

A script named "RemoveWindowsAI," hosted on GitHub by developer zoicware, allows users to disable or remove AI features in Windows 11, such as Copilot and Recall. It modifies registry keys, removes AppX packages, and installs a custom update package to prevent reinstallation. The tool supports Windows 11 versions starting from 25H2 and includes options for user interaction and backups. Interest in the script increased significantly after a post on X, leading to over 12,000 likes and 300,000 views. The repository has received 938 stars and 25 forks. Microsoft has integrated AI features into Windows 11 but faces user concerns regarding privacy and performance, with some users expressing dissatisfaction over resource consumption and data harvesting.

Instagram Threads has introduced group chats, allowing users to connect with up to 50 people. This feature is now available worldwide, including in the EU, where its launch was previously delayed. Users aged 18 and older can share content such as text posts, videos, GIFs, and emojis in these group chats. However, group chats are not encrypted. To start a group chat, users must follow the person who wants to add them, enhancing user comfort and reducing unwanted interactions. Users can name their group chats and will soon be able to invite others via a shared link. Over a third of daily Threads users follow fewer than half the accounts they follow on Instagram.
