Creative Assembly wants to know which factions you wish to play as in Total War: Medieval 3, but whatever you do, don’t ask to play as the Pope

Creative Assembly is developing Medieval 3, a new installment in the Total War series, which is currently in its early stages. The studio is engaging with fans through preproduction livestreams and a survey to gather input on which factions to include in the game. Key factors for faction inclusion are recognition, uniqueness of starting situation, and potential for distinctive gameplay mechanics. Certain factions, including England, France, the Holy Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire, the Kingdom of Jerusalem, and the Sultanate of Rum, are confirmed, while feedback is sought for smaller factions like the Italian city-states, Scandinavian kingdoms, and notable Muslim nations. Factions that will not be included are the Russian Principalities, the Mongol Empire, and the Papal States, the latter being considered too unique in playstyle.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time PC Fan Remake Officially Stopped

CryZENx has announced the conclusion of his Unreal Engine 5 fan remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which will no longer receive updates or new versions. All previous demos of the project remain available for download. The decision to halt development was made because an official remake of the game is underway, and CryZENx did not receive a cease-and-desist letter from Nintendo. He is exploring new project possibilities, with The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess currently leading a poll. CryZENx plans to release a final video showcasing gameplay of Chapters 2 and 3 of Ocarina of Time. Additionally, there are various free fan-made demos in Unreal Engine 5 available for exploration, including titles like Superman UE5 Demo and Halo 3: ODST Remake.

Minecraft gamifies Sir John Soane’s Museum

Minecraft has partnered with Sir John Soane’s Museum to create a digital experience called Soane’s Portals to the Past, allowing players to explore a virtual version of the museum. This interactive gaming experience features digital guides, including historical figures Sir John Soane and his wife, Eliza, as well as Soane's dog, Fan. Notable spaces like the Picture Gallery, Breakfast Room, and Dome have been recreated, showcasing artworks such as Canaletto's Riva degli Schiavoni, Venice. Players can also embark on guided tours of ancient sites in Egypt, Greece, and Rome. The virtual environment was created by BlockBuilders, and lesson plans from Microsoft Office 365 Education enhance its educational value. The partnership aims to fulfill the museum's educational mission and share its collection with a global audience through Minecraft. A demo of the experience is available for download.

Unreal Engine 5.7 Venice Next-Gen Tech Demo Released

Scans Factory has released a tech demo using Unreal Engine 5.7, featuring the city of Venice, which is available for download. The demo includes over 500 assets, allowing players to explore various aspects of Venetian life. Performance testing on a high-end gaming rig showed 40FPS at Native 4K resolution with Cinematic Settings, and over 65FPS at Ultra settings. A walkthrough video and performance comparison between UE5.4 and UE5.7 are also provided. Additionally, various free fan-made projects in Unreal Engine 5 include remakes of popular games and other tech demos.
