Android 16’s Linux Terminal will soon let you run graphical apps, so of course we ran Doom

Google is enhancing the Android Linux Terminal app to allow users to run graphical Linux applications on Android devices, similar to Chrome OS. The app enables the download and operation of a Debian distribution within a virtual machine, facilitated by the Android Virtualization Framework (AVF). Initially introduced in the Android 15 QPR2 beta, the Terminal app is currently a developer option with limited accessibility. Windows 11’s new Insider build makes the Sandbox Client a lot better

The Windows Sandbox Client has received enhancements in the latest update from the Canary branch, introducing features such as clipboard redirection, audio and video input control, folder sharing with the host PC, and preliminary command line support. A "detach VHD" button has been added to facilitate the removal of virtual hard disks, and the FAT32 size limit has increased from 32GB to 2TB. The update also includes a tool for running network data tests in the background, which will use up to 10MB of data per day on non-metered Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections, aimed at gathering diagnostic information for future network performance improvements. These updates are available for PCs in the Canary Channel running Build 27686 and higher, with guidance provided through the Windows Insider program.
