STAGE+ Celebrates World Opera Day with New Android App

Deutsche Grammophon has expanded its streaming service, STAGE+, to Android users, coinciding with World Opera Day on October 25. Subscribers can enjoy free streaming events, including performances such as Pretty Yende and Nadine Sierra in Concert from the Philharmonie de Paris, Donizetti’s “L’elisir d’amore” from the Royal Opera House, and Mozart’s “Le nozze di Figaro” from the Wiener Staatsoper. STAGE+ has partnered with the Metropolitan Opera to offer four operas by March 2026, including Verdi’s “La traviata” and Massenet’s “Cinderella.” The platform features over 50 livestreams annually and more than 1500 video-on-demand offerings, along with over 7000 audio albums. Smart rolls out eSIM adapter for Android users

Smart has partnered with streaming platforms CignalPlay, iWant, VivaOne, and WatchApp to provide affordable entertainment options for mobile users. The partnerships include Direct Carrier Billing, allowing payments through Smart airtime load or postpaid billing. CignalPlay offers "sachet subscriptions" starting at PhP 20 for microdramas, while Viva One provides over 400 shows with plans from PhP 99 per month and is launching Viva Movie Box for microdramas. WatchApp offers content starting at PhP 5, allowing 90 minutes of streaming. iWant has a basic plan starting at PhP 35 and features a refreshed interface and a user interface for vertical content.

Microsoft Corp. has exited the transactional video-on-demand (TVOD) sector after nearly two decades. Users will still have access to their owned digital content on Windows and Xbox devices. The company launched the “Zune Video Marketplace” in 2006, which evolved into Xbox Video in 2012 and was rebranded as the Microsoft Movies & TV Store in 2015. The platform generated approximately billion in revenue through 2024. This decision follows the departure of Dametra Johnson-Marletti, who was a key figure in Microsoft's digital gaming sales division.
