Smartphones now offer the ability to capture RAW photos, which retain all sensor data in an uncompressed format, ideal for editing. Google Pixel devices can capture both RAW and processed JPEG images. To enable RAW capture on Google Pixel, access the camera app, go to Settings, select the Pro tab, and toggle on the RAW/JPEG option. Editing applications like Adobe Lightroom can be used to fine-tune RAW images. ZeroCam is an app that allows users to capture photos without filtering or post-processing, focusing on simplicity with a single shutter button. It offers a trial period, after which it requires a minimal subscription fee. Camera FV-5 Lite provides manual adjustments for ISO, shutter speed, and white balance, allowing for greater control over images. It includes features like burst photo mode and automatic exposure bracketing, with some functionalities available only in the paid version. The Blackmagic Camera app is designed for videographers, offering professional controls such as an RGB histogram and image stabilization, and is compatible with recent flagship devices from brands like Samsung, Google, and OnePlus.

OnePlus 13 users can now use Night Mode in Instagram, enhancing low-light photography and videography within the app. This feature, previously available only on select Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices, utilizes Android’s Camera Extensions API. Night Mode activates automatically in low-light conditions, indicated by a moon icon. Users can capture images by launching the Instagram camera, waiting for Night Mode to engage, and holding the shutter button steady for a few seconds. This integration allows for a seamless experience without needing to switch between apps, building on OnePlus's existing Night Mode capabilities.

Smartphone screens have improved over the last decade but still do not match the size of portable monitors and televisions. Android devices that support DisplayPort Alternate Mode, like the Google Pixel 9 series and Samsung Galaxy S24 series, can project content onto larger displays. This allows certain apps to utilize the Presentation API for enhanced experiences. 1. Google Slides enables users to view speaker notes on their phone while displaying slides on an external screen during presentations. 2. The DraStic emulator allows users to play Nintendo DS games by displaying one screen on the phone and the other on an external display. 3. The Filmic Pro app provides a clean HDMI output, showing camera controls on the phone while offering a clear viewfinder image on an external display.
