It’s Not Gone: The Feature Android Auto Users Love Is Still There, Google Says

The wavy progress bar in Android Auto's music applications has disappeared for some users, leading to speculation about its permanent removal. Google clarified that the squiggly line has not been eliminated, attributing the inconsistency to app developers' ability to customize the progress bar's appearance. Users have observed that the wavy progress bar may appear in the Coolwalk screen but reverts to a standard straight line in full-screen mode. Additionally, any app capable of playing media now utilizes a dedicated card on the Coolwalk screen, allowing users to see song information and playback controls. This feature is live on production devices with the latest updates of Android Auto.

Google Messages gets a major gesture and menu refresh

Google Messages is introducing refined gestures to enhance user experience on Android. Long-pressing a message now opens a floating menu with shortcuts for actions like copying, starring, or replying. Users can select specific text snippets instead of copying entire messages. Swiping left reveals message timestamps and encryption statuses, while swiping right allows for instant replies. The long-press menu replaces the top toolbar, providing quick access to functions such as Reply, Forward, Copy, Star, Delete, Select more, and Info. For images, options like Save and Remix are available. The text copying feature allows selection of portions of text, extending to images, videos, links, files, locations, and contact cards. Tapping a message reveals read receipts and timestamps briefly appear after a tap. These features are part of recent builds of Google Messages, including version 2026091003RC02, but the rollout is server-side, so not all devices will receive the updates at the same time.

Gemini’s new blurred UI is finally reaching Android phones

Google is updating its Gemini AI with a new interface that enhances user interaction on select Pixel and Galaxy smartphones, including the Pixel 10 Pro XL and Galaxy S26 Ultra. The update features a blurred backdrop that separates the Gemini interface from the underlying screen, creating a more immersive experience. This redesign builds on previous updates, which included sleeker icons and Dynamic Color support, and allows for direct interactions within the overlay without needing to switch screens. The rollout is server-side controlled, meaning not all users will receive the update simultaneously, and there is currently no toggle to activate the new design.

How to Install Minecraft Shaders: A Step-by-Step Guide

A legal copy of Minecraft Java Edition is required to install shaders, as they are not supported in the Bedrock edition. A compatible mod, such as Optifine or Iris, must be installed to run shaders. The installation process involves three steps: installing a mod, downloading a shader pack, and running it in the game. To install a mod, download the appropriate version from the official site, execute the .jar file, and follow the installation prompts. To download a shader pack, visit trusted sources like Curseforge or Modrinth, select the desired pack, and save the zip file. To run the shader pack, launch Minecraft with the installed mod, navigate to Video Settings, open the Shaders Folder, and drag the zip file into it. Shaders can lower FPS in Minecraft, but many options exist that balance performance and visual quality.
