The Windows 11 update 25H2 will focus on fixing bugs from the previous version 24H2 and will include enhancements, particularly to the dark mode. The dark mode will feature a more uniform appearance across all windows and system buttons, addressing previous inconsistencies where some elements appeared in light mode. Updates include a dark gray file copy interface and darker tones in confirmation windows, although some issues, such as light mode buttons in administrator permission windows, remain. These updates are currently available only through manual activation in Windows Insider builds and have not been officially announced by Microsoft.

Developers are now compiling shaders before gameplay, leading to a shader compilation screen that displays a progress bar with potentially tens of thousands of shaders. This screen can frustrate players, who are left with nothing to do but watch the progress. Suggestions to improve this experience include integrating gameplay tips with the loading screen, using entertaining phrases during loading, compiling a single large shader instead of many small ones, introducing "No-Shader Saturdays" for gameplay without shader compilation, and allowing players to participate in the compilation process.

Windows 11 is introducing updates to its taskbar in build 26120.4733, featuring a new animation that activates when users hover over open applications. This includes a “fly up” animation that displays a thumbnail reflecting the actual size of the app window, which adjusts dynamically for smaller windows. Additionally, a size-adjusting animation will activate when hovering between thumbnails of varying dimensions. Windows 11 will also introduce a "shared audio" feature, allowing users to connect and play music through multiple audio devices simultaneously via Quick Settings, compatible with Bluetooth devices supporting version 4.0 or higher. These updates are currently being tested in preview builds.
