Huion Note E Notebook / Android Tablet Review – Affordable e-paper-like tablet – Mighty Gadget Blog Technology News and Reviews

The iFLYTEK AINOTE Air 2 and AINote 2 are e-ink tablets with AI capabilities for voice transcription, excelling in note-taking and audio transcription but suffering from a sluggish user interface. The TCL Note A1 NXTPAPER features a matte NXTPAPER display for comfortable reading and writing but does not match the feel of e-ink, priced at £479. The Huion Note E is a budget-friendly Android tablet at £299, designed for productivity with a matte display and PenTech 3.0 EMR pen technology. It has an 8.4-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200, powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 processor, and offers approximately 6.5 hours of battery life. The tablet includes a handwriting recognition feature but lacks integrated voice transcription. It is designed to resemble a hardback book, with a PU leather folio case and a fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button. The display has a brightness of 300 nits and a refresh rate of 60 Hz, and while it supports a Reading Mode for a greyscale experience, it does not fully replicate an e-ink reading experience. The device has no expandable storage and limited USB 2.0 speeds for file transfers.

Android 17 QPR1: What Pixel Gets

Android 17 QPR1 began its stable rollout in the United States on September 15, 2026, coinciding with Google’s September Pixel Drop. This update introduces the Pause Point feature, which temporarily halts access to a selected app for 10 seconds, allowing users to reconsider their choice. The update is compatible with Pixel phones from the Pixel 6 through the Pixel 10a generations, as well as the Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold models. The rollout is staged, leading to varying delivery times for users. Pause Point imposes a 10-second delay when accessing a configured app, offering options like breathing exercises and alternative app suggestions. Disabling Pause Point requires a phone restart. Scam protection features vary by region, with Gboard scam warnings initially exclusive to the U.S. for Pixel 6 and newer devices, while notification-based Scam Detection has expanded to nine additional regions, excluding Spain. Android 17 QPR1 also includes a refresh of the Pixel interface, adding a new Keyboard tile to Quick Settings and improving visual aesthetics with enhanced translucent and blurred backgrounds. Screen recording defaults to capturing a single app, and the VIPs widget has been upgraded for easier calling and messaging. Google and Audible have collaborated to provide Harry Potter-themed packs for Pixel users, featuring customized wallpapers and icons, along with a two-month Audible trial, though eligibility conditions are unspecified.

How to Use Point-in-Time Restore in Windows 11

The Point-in-Time Restore feature in Windows 11 allows users to revert their system to a previous state, but it may result in the loss of recently created files. This feature captures the system's state, including Windows system files, installed applications, and local settings. Restore points are generated automatically every 24 hours, but users can create them manually. However, restoring can erase new documents, recently installed applications, and any settings changes made since the last restore point. Files stored in OneDrive remain unaffected. To verify Point-in-Time Restore settings, users must access the Settings application, select System, and then Recovery. Restore points are retained for up to 72 hours and may be deleted sooner if storage is limited. Windows 11 version 26H2 enables this feature by default for devices with an OS volume of at least 200 GB. Before restoring, users should back up recent work to an external drive. To initiate the restore, access the Windows Recovery Environment, select Troubleshoot, and then Point-in-Time Restore. If files are lost after a restore, 4DDiG Data Recovery Software can help recover deleted files. It scans local drives for files deleted during a rollback or accidental deletion. A robust recovery plan should include using Point-in-Time Restore, OneDrive for daily file protection, and separate backups before significant system changes.

Windows 11’s audio bugs won’t be fixed until October

Users of Windows PCs with AMD Radeon GPUs, including models such as RX 6600, RX 7700 XT, RX 7800 XT, RX 7900 GRE, RX 7900 XTX, and RX 9070 XT, may experience persistent issues until October 13th, 2026. These issues include error messages in Device Manager (Code 10), absence of audio output, unresponsive volume controls, inaccessible sound settings, and failures in multi-channel or 3D audio features. Additional problems reported are driver timeouts, black screens, missing displays, and system crashes. Issues with File Explorer and File History have emerged after September's Patch Tuesday updates, affecting the creation and accessibility of backups. Some problems have been resolved through an emergency update, including fixes for Claude Cowork and Remote Desktop Services, and a misleading Defender warning.

Microsoft admits Windows 11’s emergency update still breaks audio, and a fix may not arrive until October

Windows 11 is facing ongoing challenges with audio functionality following recent updates, particularly with the emergency update KB5129195 released on September 14. This update aimed to fix issues from the September Patch Tuesday update (KB5124008) but has led to new problems, including compromised audio output on some devices and disruptions in secure trust relationships for enterprise systems. Users have reported error messages like “This device cannot start (Code 10)” in Device Manager, and issues with USB audio devices. Microsoft is investigating these audio problems but has not provided a timeline for resolution. Additionally, there are reports of GPU issues on AMD systems, including driver timeouts and black screens, affecting various Radeon models such as RX 6600, RX 7700 XT, RX 7800 XT, RX 7900 GRE, RX 7900 XTX, and RX 9070 XT. Some users found that uninstalling the September update alleviated these problems, but the emergency update KB5129195 does not address the GPU errors.

5 Ways To Use Android Auto Without Touching Your Phone

Gemini integration in Android Auto enhances hands-free functionality, allowing drivers to use natural voice commands for navigation, music, and phone features without touching their devices. Users can activate voice commands by saying "Hey Google" or using a dedicated steering wheel button, depending on the vehicle model. Navigation can be managed entirely through voice, enabling users to request routes, add stops, and report issues without screen interaction. Android Auto also supports hands-free control for calls and messages, allowing users to answer and respond without taking their hands off the wheel. Automations can be set up to start Android Auto and media playback automatically when the phone connects to the vehicle, streamlining the driving experience.

The hidden Windows feature quietly filling up your SSD—and how to rein it in

Microsoft introduced a feature called point-in-time restore in Windows 11, which creates snapshots of the system every 24 hours to enhance recovery options. This feature began rolling out in late June 2026 and is typically enabled by default for boot drives of 200GB or larger. It uses the Volume Shadow Copy Service to generate restore points that are available for 72 hours before being purged. The feature can consume significant storage space, initially occupying 3.9GB and potentially increasing to over 18GB within two months, reaching a maximum of 2% of the total disk space. Users can adjust the storage usage settings or disable the feature entirely to reclaim space. The default maximum usage can be modified to as low as 0.2%. There are concerns that this feature should have been opt-in rather than opt-out due to its storage implications.
