Google Play is introducing a feature that allows users to find where to watch movies and TV shows by searching for a title in the Search tab. This feature presents a "Where to watch" card that lists various apps where the content is available for streaming, renting, or purchasing. It includes install prompts for apps not already on the user's device but does not provide rental prices, purchase costs, subscription fees, IMDb ratings, or direct YouTube links. The feature is currently rolling out and may not be immediately available to all users.

Microsoft has enhanced the Windows 11 remote desktop feature for Meta’s Quest 3 and Quest 3S headsets, allowing users to project multiple high-resolution monitors into their headset and introducing an ultrawide mode. The feature was first previewed in December 2024 and has since been rolled out more broadly with the Horizon OS v81 update. Users can download the Mixed Reality Link application on their Windows computer to pair their headset. The integration allows interaction with the desktop display from the headset, and users can choose to immerse themselves in the virtual desktop or use passthrough technology. Additionally, users can rescale and resize displays across applications, utilize a Full Passthrough feature for environmental checks, and open up to 12 applications simultaneously for multitasking.

On October 10, Dave W. Plummer, a Microsoft engineer, revealed that the infamous Windows XP license key FCKGW-RHQQ2-YXRKT-8TG6W-2B7Q8 was the result of an internal data breach rather than a software crack. The key was initially a Volume License Key (VLK) meant for corporate use, but management oversight led to its exposure, allowing it to spread among hackers. The Windows Product Activation (WPA) system allowed this key to bypass verification processes, making it easy for users to install unauthorized versions of Windows XP. The proliferation of "pre-activated" Windows XP CDs and ISO images led to widespread piracy. Microsoft eventually blacklisted the key and eliminated the VLK mechanism with the introduction of Service Pack 2 (SP2).

Microsoft has updated the Copilot app on Windows 11, introducing two key features. The Connectors feature allows users to link Copilot with services like OneDrive, Outlook, Google Drive, Google Calendar, and Google Contacts, enabling natural language queries for searching across these platforms. This feature is opt-in and can be enabled in the Copilot settings. Additionally, Copilot now supports the creation and export of documents, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files, using simple prompts. For responses over 600 characters, an "Export" button is provided for easy transfer to various formats. Users can access these features by enrolling in the Windows Insider Program and ensuring their Copilot app version is 1.25095.161.0 or higher.

Dave W. Plummer, a Microsoft developer, revealed that the alphanumeric string FCKGW-RHQQ2-YXRKT-8TG6W-2B7Q8 is the first valid Windows XP volume licensing key that was leaked and subsequently used by software pirates. This leak was described by Plummer as a "disastrous leak" rather than a clever hack. At the time of the leak, broadband internet was not widely available, with only about 20% of households having access, making it difficult for users on 56K modems to download the 455.1MB 'pre-activated' XP, which would take a full day. In contrast, those with ADSL connections could download the Windows XP VLK install ISO image in about two hours on a 512K line.
