A recent advisory warns Windows users about vulnerabilities, emphasizing the need to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 due to the impending cessation of support for Windows 10 in October. Asus has highlighted that users of Windows 10 or older systems will soon lose regular updates and support. Currently, around 750 million users are on Windows 10, with 500 million potentially eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 11. Recent market data shows Windows 10's user share has increased from 41% in April to over 43% in May, while Windows 11 has declined by 3.5%. Microsoft is launching a public preview of "Windows Backup for Organizations" to facilitate the migration from Windows 10 to Windows 11. This tool allows for the backup of settings from Windows 10 and Windows 11 PCs and enables restoration on devices integrated with Microsoft Entra. The initiative aims to streamline the migration process as Windows 10 support ends on October 14. Devices must be "Microsoft Entra joined" or "Microsoft Entra hybrid joined," running a supported version of Windows 10 or 11, with full functionality requiring Windows 11 22H2 or newer, Microsoft Entra integration, and active Microsoft Intune test tenant and administrator rights. Interested participants can apply through a designated form. Additionally, Microsoft introduced a migration assistant within the Insider Beta preview of Windows 11 to simplify transferring files and settings from old PCs to new ones.

Many users are experiencing issues with Windows 10 versions 22H2 and Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021, particularly those with Intel Trusted Execution Technology (TXT) on tenth-generation or later Intel processors with vPro support. Users who have BitLocker enabled and installed the KB5058379 patch released on May 13 may need their BitLocker recovery keys due to a bug causing lsass.exe to terminate unexpectedly, leading to an Automatic Repair cycle or a reboot loop. Microsoft has acknowledged the issue and is working on an Out-of-band update. Meanwhile, workarounds, such as disabling TXT, pose security risks. Microsoft also announced significant layoffs affecting thousands of employees.
