Developer Brandon Thomas is creating open-source alternatives to Microsoft’s applications—Word, Excel, and PowerPoint—using artificial intelligence. His suite includes GridCraft (Excel clone), DeckCraft (PowerPoint clone), and WordCraft (Word clone), all powered by the Claude AI model and available for free download on the ArtCraft GitHub page. These applications mimic the functionality and design of Microsoft 365, challenging the necessity of expensive subscriptions for productivity tools. Thomas has previously replicated the Adobe suite and aims to provide competitive alternatives to established software giants.

Microsoft will rotate Windows Update certificates in 2027, with current certificates expiring on May 17, 2027, and June 19, 2027. Devices not updated with replacement certificates will lose access to Windows updates. All actively supported versions of Windows 11 will receive the new certificates, with versions 26H2 and 25H2 already covered by updates released in July 2026. Users of Windows 11 version 24H2 have one week left to upgrade to maintain access to updates.
