PCAPdroid is a free, open-source application for monitoring network traffic on Android devices. Traffic can be categorized by application, providing information such as installation date, version, and permissions. PCAPdroid offers various dump modes, allowing users to view traffic in real-time or save it as a PCAP file, and enables sharing captures via a local web page or forwarding live traffic to another machine using UDP or TCP. The app can extract information from captured traffic, including DNS requests, TLS server names, and HTTP requests. It also has the capability to decrypt HTTPS/TLS traffic, which requires a setup process involving a helper add-on and a certificate. Successful decryption allows users to view and export previously encrypted traffic, although not all apps support this feature.

De-Enshittify Windows 11: OneDrive ⭐

Microsoft has auto-enabled the OneDrive Folder Backup feature in Windows 11 version 25H2 without notifying users, syncing the Desktop, Documents, and Pictures folders automatically. Many users may not want these folders synced due to containing sensitive or large files. Disabling Folder Backup can be cumbersome, as it requires users to decide where to store contents, complicating content management. Unlike previous versions, this feature is activated post-login without user consent. To uninstall OneDrive, users can go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps, locate Microsoft OneDrive, and select "Uninstall." Uninstalling does not delete cloud-stored files, which remain accessible via the OneDrive website or app. Users can prevent OneDrive from enabling Folder Backup during PC setup by acting quickly after the Windows Setup Out of Box Experience (OOBE) and canceling the backup process when prompted. If Folder Backup is already enabled, users can disable it by accessing OneDrive settings and managing backups for the Desktop, Documents, and Pictures folders. OneDrive offers only 5 GB of free cloud storage, with additional storage requiring a subscription to Microsoft 365. Users can disable “On this day” memory notifications in OneDrive settings. To move OneDrive to a different disk, users must unlink their account and select a new folder path during re-sign-in.

Windows security breaks ROG Xbox Ally handheld game consoles

Microsoft's Windows Smart App Control feature has flagged essential software components of the Asus ROG Xbox Ally gaming handheld as untrustworthy following a recent update to Windows 11. This issue affects the Armoury Crate CE software, which manages the hardware functionality of the device, leading to difficulties in launching games outside of the Xbox app and adjusting performance settings. The problem may stem from inadequate configuration of certificates by Asus or the need for an update to Microsoft's trusted application database. Many Windows 11 PCs do not have Smart App Control activated, and users can disable it through SETTINGS > APP AND BROWSER CONTROLS > SMART APP CONTROL SETTINGS. If users choose to disable it, they may later need to reset or reinstall Windows to reactivate Smart App Control. ROG Xbox Ally owners are currently faced with the choice of waiting for a fix or disabling the security feature.

Minecraft 26.1 Snapshot 5

Players can now enjoy new features in the latest snapshot release, including baby versions of aquatic mobs such as axolotls, dolphins, turtles, squids, and glow squids. A new item, the Golden Dandelion, can be used to prevent baby mobs from aging. Crafting the Golden Dandelion requires a standard dandelion and gold nuggets. The bounding boxes for baby squids, glow squids, axolotls, and turtles have been adjusted to fit their new models. The Data Pack version has been updated to 98, and the Resource Pack version is now at 79. New sound effects for baby chickens and the Golden Dandelion have been added, and several bugs have been fixed in this release. Snapshots are available for Minecraft: Java Edition, and players are advised to back up their worlds before testing.
