Long-term support for smartphones is important for consumers, especially regarding data security. OnePlus guarantees four years of software updates and five years of security updates, but none of its phones will reach the 2030 mark for new OS upgrades. Other brands like Oppo and Xiaomi lack transparency in their support policies, with Xiaomi only committing to two years of security updates.

Microsoft reportedly using TPM chips to weed out Windows piracy

Starting with upcoming Windows Server releases, KMS hosts will be required to prove they run on verified hardware before activating clients. By August 2026, Windows Server 2025 will help administrators prepare for these changes.

Ubisoft is letting owners of its Xbox games play select titles for free on PC as part of a new partnership with Microsoft

Microsoft has partnered with Ubisoft to allow owners of select Ubisoft titles on Xbox to transition their gaming experience to PC at no additional cost. The following Ubisoft games will be accessible through Ubisoft Connect for PC: Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Far Cry 6, Immortals Fenyx Rising, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Riders Republic, Skull and Bones, The Crew 2, The Crew Motorfest, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, and Watch Dogs Legion. New purchases of these titles will appear in Ubisoft Connect immediately, while previously acquired games will be available starting August 4th. The initiative does not allow for PC games to be converted into digital Xbox copies, and while downloadable content (DLC) will transfer, consumable items and in-game currency may not. Players can check the Properties page on Ubisoft Connect to verify successful migration. Additionally, premium editions of Ubisoft games are now available on the Xbox app for PC, including titles like Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Star Wars Outlaws.
