The Sims 4 Royalty and Legacy: all the confirmed features in the next expansion

The Sims 4 expansion titled Royalty and Legacy introduces new gameplay features focused on family dynasties, scandals, and prestige. Android 17 Min Mode turns AOD into a live app canvas

Most Android devices now have an always-on display (AOD) feature, which allows users to view the time and notifications without unlocking their phones. Google is developing a new feature called "Min Mode" for Android 17, which will enable apps to integrate with AOD by rendering minimal user interfaces on the low-power display. Min Mode will not replace the traditional AOD but will function as an additional mode, allowing for a full-screen application surface while maintaining low brightness and refresh rates. Apps can activate Min Mode by defining a MinModeActivity in their AndroidManifest and communicating with a MinModeProvider in SystemUI. This feature aims to provide glanceable, battery-efficient experiences for applications that typically drain battery life. Early indications suggest that Google Maps may be the first app to implement Min Mode, with relevant code already identified. The feature is expected to be available in Android 17, as it is currently disabled at the system level and is not anticipated to be included in Android 16 QPR3.

Minecraft is now a fully fledged, dungeon-crawling fantasy RPG, thanks to Soulsteel

Soulsteel is a newly launched Minecraft server created by Noxcrew that combines RPG elements with the Minecraft experience. Players start their journey in the town of Port Fortuna, engaging with NPCs and embarking on quests. The main focus of the game is dungeon exploration, featuring timed challenges that include battling foes, navigating traps, and solving puzzles for loot. Players can customize their play style with a variety of armor and weapons, and can establish campsites to enhance their equipment. Threads is getting group chats as messaging rolls out to the EU

Instagram Threads has introduced group chats, allowing users to connect with up to 50 people. This feature is now available worldwide, including in the EU, where its launch was previously delayed. Users aged 18 and older can share content such as text posts, videos, GIFs, and emojis in these group chats. However, group chats are not encrypted. To start a group chat, users must follow the person who wants to add them, enhancing user comfort and reducing unwanted interactions. Users can name their group chats and will soon be able to invite others via a shared link. Over a third of daily Threads users follow fewer than half the accounts they follow on Instagram.

My favorite Spotify feature makes other music apps completely useless in the car

We finally know how Android’s new app verification rules will actually work
