WWII RTS ‘Sudden Strike 5’ Launches on PC on the 23rd

H2 Interactive has released 'Sudden Strike 5,' a PC strategy game developed by Kite Games, available on Direct Games with a promotional discount. A PS5 version will be released in Korea soon, and an update will add Korean language support to the PC version. The game is set during World War II, featuring 25 historical mission campaigns and over 300 unique units. Players can command various combat units, including tanks and infantry, and have flexibility in tactics and objectives. The game includes commander customization, enhanced camera options, and a PVP mode. The Deluxe Edition features an original soundtrack, vehicle camouflage skins, and exclusive PVP maps. Steam, Minecraft, Roblox and Fortnite risk “becoming onramps to abuse, extremist violence, radicalisation or lifelong harm”, claim Australian government

The Australian government's eSafety commissioner has issued transparency notices to major gaming platforms, including Valve, Epic Games, Microsoft, and the Roblox Corporation, to understand their measures for safeguarding children online. Concerns have been raised about predatory adults targeting children through grooming and extremist narratives in games. Specific instances include Islamic State-inspired games on Roblox, far-right groups using Minecraft for fascist imagery, Fortnite gamifying tragic historical events, and Steam serving as a hub for extreme-right communities. The government is urging these companies to take meaningful steps to prevent abuse and radicalization. Some measures have already been implemented, such as Roblox restricting access to social hangouts and unrated games for users under 13 and introducing selfie-based facial age estimation technology. The companies are expected to provide detailed accounts of their existing and planned measures to combat grooming and extremism.

This is not a drill: All-timer weirdo game Deadly Premonition now playable on Linux as of Valve’s most recent Proton beta, plus 17 others and your EA library (until EA breaks it again)

Proton 11 beta 1 has been released by Valve, enhancing the Steam Deck and Linux desktops, and incorporating features from Wine 11. This update includes an initial Arm64 version of Proton, with plans for implementation in the upcoming Steam Frame. Some Windows games may perform better on Linux with this update. Newly playable games include "Unknown Faces," "Gothic 1 Classic," "X-Plane 12," "Breath of Fire IV," and "Deadly Premonition." The update also fixes various issues, such as video playback in "She Sees Red," rendering problems with the Ukrainian language option in "Chambers," and voice chat issues in "Phasmophobia." Improvements have been made in VR support for "No Man's Sky," and many other gameplay and performance enhancements have been implemented across various titles. Proton 11 beta 1 is based on Wine 11.0 and includes updates to several components, including vkd3d, dxvk, and Wine Mono.

The game will faithfully recreate the “Six Orders” activation system, a suppression-based pinning system, and tactical armor facing. Key features include a comprehensive Army Painter for customization and a dynamic single-player campaign set in the Normandy theater.
