Anticipation Grows for the Domestic Action RPG “Smuta”
The release of the highly awaited action RPG “Smuta” is set for April 4, 2024. Recently, the developers unveiled a demo version of the game, which has stirred considerable excitement among the gaming community. However, it appears that an enterprising individual has managed to access a complete build of the game ahead of schedule, igniting discussions across various platforms.
Initially, many gamers speculated that the leaked version was merely a re-upload of the demo. Yet, a few adventurous players took the plunge and reported that they had indeed encountered a fully functional version of “Smuta.” One player, known as Serёzha Drakonov, shared his impressions: “The game is genuinely complete; it even includes a moment from the leak that surfaced last year. Surprisingly, it lags less than the demo.” He noted that he spent a couple of hours exploring the game, finding it surprisingly polished with minimal cringe-worthy moments compared to the demo.
Concerns regarding optimization were prevalent with the demo, but Serёzha offered insights on this new build: “This version seems to originate from a different timeline where the game was released as a mid-tier title, which will be refined through patches. On my relatively modest system with a 3060 Ti, this build runs decently with DLSS enabled. At 2K resolution, it delivers between 30 to 60 frames per second, with minor stutters in heavily populated areas. I only encountered a texture glitch once during my four hours of gameplay, but the auto-save feature saved the day. Lighting effects only activate with Lumen turned on, which moderately impacts performance, yet the visuals can be stunning at times.”
Another point of critique from the demo was the voice acting. Serёzha remarked, “The game features an overwhelming amount of dialogue, but the voice acting is surprisingly less cringeworthy compared to the demo.” He also shared his thoughts on the combat system: “The combat feels somewhat simplistic. While they’ve attempted to add variety by introducing occasional stuns, these can be countered with a dodge and a pistol shot. The combat is reminiscent of an early version of The Witcher. However, I appreciate that not every aspect of the game revolves around dialogue.” He also noted the presence of blood in this version.
“Smuta” is set to launch on PC via the VK Play platform, with developers currently accepting pre-orders. A promotional discount is available for those who purchase the game before its official release. This situation echoes the earlier case of “Atomic Heart,” where players explored an old build before opting to buy the latest version of the game.
