April’s Windows 11 update is borking some PCs with CrowdStrike

Windows 11 Update KB5055523 Faces Multiple Challenges

Earlier this month, a significant issue was brought to light regarding the Windows 11 update KB5055523, which disrupted Windows Hello logins, leaving users unable to utilize both face recognition and PIN codes. However, this update appears to harbor additional complications that extend beyond the initial login troubles, a trend that seems to accompany the Windows 11 24H2 updates.

According to reports from Windows Latest, the KB5055523 update has also introduced several bugs that impact business applications. Notably, users have encountered severe issues with SAP GUI, which may either crash unexpectedly with error codes 0xc0000409 and 0x000b1c30 or fail to launch altogether.

Upon deeper examination, it seems that these problems are linked to a conflict with the CrowdStrike Falcon Sensor security software. As detailed on their support page, CrowdStrike indicates that certain applications may experience crashes when Additional User-Mode Data (AUMD) is activated on Windows 11 systems running the KB5055523 update.

In light of these ongoing challenges, users affected by these issues are advised to consider rolling back the KB5055523 update. Additionally, it may be prudent to postpone any further Windows 11 24H2 updates until a comprehensive solution is provided by Microsoft or CrowdStrike.
