Mirroring the functionalities of its Mac counterpart, the Windows version of ChatGPT allows users to engage with the AI chatbot in a dedicated window that can be kept open alongside other applications. This seamless integration is enhanced by the Alt + Space shortcut, providing quick access to the chatbot whenever needed.
Among the notable features of this app is the ability to upload files and photos directly to ChatGPT, enriching the interaction with the AI. Users will also gain access to a preview of OpenAI’s o1 model, which is designed to enhance reasoning capabilities within conversations. However, it is worth noting that the app is still in development and lacks certain functionalities, such as an advanced voice mode.
Security Enhancements
In light of previous concerns regarding user privacy, particularly following the discovery of a security vulnerability shortly after the launch of the Mac version in June, OpenAI has taken significant steps to bolster security. The earlier issue, which involved storing conversations in plain text, has been addressed, and the company now employs encryption for locally stored data, ensuring a more secure user experience.
