In a move aimed at enhancing user experience, Microsoft has rolled out a significant update to the Snipping Tool in the latest preview version of Windows 11, now accessible through the Insider Program. This upgrade focuses on improving the text extraction from images, making the process more intuitive and efficient.
Streamlined Text Copying Process
The newly released Windows 11 Insider version 11.2503.27.0, available to both Canary and Dev channel testers, introduces a fresh text extraction icon within the Snipping Tool’s toolbar. This innovative feature allows users to select and copy text directly from images without needing to capture a screenshot first.
Previously, users had to navigate through a more cumbersome process, which involved opening an image in either the Snipping Tool or the Photos app and manually selecting the text icon. The latest update simplifies this workflow significantly. Now, by launching the Snipping Tool from the Start Menu or utilizing the Win + Shift + S shortcut, users can directly select the desired area and click on the text extraction icon in the toolbar.
Once the text is selected, users can choose to copy specific sections or the entire text to their clipboard. Additionally, a drop-down menu offers further options, such as removing line breaks or opting to “Copy all text”, providing a more tailored experience for users looking to extract information efficiently.
