Windows 11’s journey toward widespread adoption has encountered a series of hurdles, ranging from hardware limitations to user reluctance. These concerns are certainly justified, as many users weigh the benefits against the challenges of upgrading. Recent developments in Microsoft’s testing of File Explorer, however, suggest that the company still has significant work ahead to elevate Windows 11 to its full potential.
File Explorer Enhancements Under Review
In the latest Insider Preview Build 26220.7271, currently available on both the Dev and Beta channels, Microsoft is experimenting with a preloading feature for File Explorer. Windows Latest took this new functionality for a test drive, but the feedback has been less than enthusiastic. The improvements, while promising, have not yet delivered the transformative experience that many users hope for.
Despite the introduction of features that aim to enhance user experience, there remain aspects of Windows 11 that require further refinement. The anticipation surrounding the preloading feature is palpable, with hopes that it will bring a more robust performance when it officially rolls out in the regular Windows Update scheduled for 2026.
