Windows 11 version 24H2 has been in circulation for nearly eight months, yet Microsoft continues to encounter challenges in its rollout due to compatibility concerns. Recently, the tech giant implemented a new block, identified by protection number 56318982, which further complicates the update process for certain systems.
According to insights from Neowin, the removal of such blocks can be a protracted affair, reminiscent of the earlier ID 52754008 case. Additionally, the Windows Update service itself may contribute to these delays, as current issues with Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) hinder devices operating on Windows 11 versions 23H2 and 22H2 from accessing the 24H2 update.
Users attempting to download version 24H2 may encounter the error code 0x80240069. Microsoft attributes this complication to the monthly security update released in April, known as KB5055528.
Microsoft explains the problem as follows:
Devices that have installed the April 2025 Windows security update or any subsequent updates (starting with KB5055528) may experience difficulties when trying to update to Windows 11 version 24H2 via WSUS. This service allows organizations to manage updates for specific devices or groups, including the ability to defer or approve updates.
The aforementioned error obstructs the initiation or completion of the Windows 11 24H2 download. Error code 0x80240069 may be logged in the Windows Update records, with additional logs indicating an unexpected interruption of the ‘wuauserv’ service.
No solution available yet
At this stage, Microsoft has not provided a temporary workaround for the issue. The company is actively investigating the matter and plans to share updates in due course. Stakeholders can monitor progress through the official Windows Health Dashboard site.
Reports from various online sources suggest that the System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) is also experiencing similar challenges, indicating that the issue extends beyond just WSUS.
While Microsoft maintains documentation on various error codes linked to Windows Update, it is worth noting that error code 0x80240069 is not currently detailed within those resources.
