Microsoft has unveiled two new Insider builds for Windows 11, catering to testers on both the Dev and Beta Channels. While the updates may appear modest, they reflect the company’s ongoing commitment to refining user experience ahead of the month’s end. Notably absent, however, is the much-anticipated AI-powered Recall feature.

In the latest Dev build, numbered 26120.2200, users will notice enhancements in the way Windows Studio Effects are represented in the system tray. A new icon will now grace the taskbar whenever an application utilizing these AI-driven effects is active. A simple click on this icon directs users to the Studio Effects page within Quick Settings, while hovering over the icon reveals which application is currently accessing the camera.
Previously, Microsoft introduced a Dynamic Lighting page within the Windows 11 Settings app, allowing users to manage RGB lighting devices without relying on third-party applications. This feature remains a work in progress, but the latest Dev build enriches it with new directional options for the Wave effect—Forward, Backward, Outward, and Inward—as well as adding a Forward direction option for the Gradient effect. Notably, this page will be disabled if no compatible devices are connected.
Turning our attention to the Beta Channel, build 22635.4435 mirrors the Dynamic Lighting updates seen in the Dev build. Additionally, it reinstates the ability to configure the Copilot key to launch applications other than Copilot itself, a feature that had been temporarily disabled in the previous build, 22635.4291. Users can once again customize the functionality of the Copilot key through Settings > Personalization > Text input, although this option is now limited to applications that have opted into this new experience.
As is customary, these updates will be rolled out gradually to Insiders, with those who have enabled the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” toggle in Windows Update receiving them first.
