Microsoft has announced an enticing discount for Windows 365, aiming to motivate Windows 10 users to transition before the operating system reaches its end of life in October 2025. New users can now enjoy a 20% discount on all Windows 365 plans, applicable for the duration of their Enterprise Agreement contract or the first year of their Windows 365 subscription, whichever period is shorter.
Embracing Change in Challenging Times
Stefan Kinnestrand, Vice President of Modern Work at Microsoft, shared insights into the current landscape, stating, “In these uncertain times, marked by fluctuating economic conditions and supply chain concerns, businesses face numerous challenges. Amidst these complexities, it is even more important to adopt new technologies in the age of AI to stay competitive and secure.”
Kinnestrand highlighted several options for companies looking to upgrade their systems. They can check if their existing Windows 10 PCs qualify for a complimentary upgrade to Windows 11, invest in new, more secure Windows 11 devices, or transition to the cloud with Windows 365. This push for upgrades is timely, as the official end of life for Windows 10 is set for October 14, 2025.
After this date, users will no longer receive free product or security updates for Windows 10, potentially exposing them to cyber threats. However, subscribing to a Windows 365-powered Windows 11 Cloud PC ensures continued access to essential updates.
It is worth noting that approximately one in five laptops currently running Windows 10 are equipped with hardware that is incompatible with Windows 11. Without a strategic transition plan, these devices risk being discarded, contributing to an increase in electronic waste as companies modernize their IT infrastructure.
