Microsoft is bringing back Windows 10’s second hand display after backlash

About a month ago, Microsoft made a notable adjustment to the interface of Windows 10’s taskbar calendar, a change that did not sit well with many long-time users. The company removed the clock display from the flyout menu, a decision that left some users feeling frustrated, particularly those who relied on the precise timekeeping it provided.

The rationale behind this alteration was to eliminate the seconds display, which was said to consume additional processing resources. This modification aimed to enhance the graphical user interface and facilitate the activation of the PC’s power-saving mode, ultimately improving overall performance. Previously, the time display had been accurate to the second, a feature that many found indispensable.

Return of the Seconds Display

In response to the backlash from users, Windows Latest reports that Microsoft is set to reintroduce the clock’s seconds display with the upcoming cumulative update for Windows 10. This update, designated as Windows 10 22H2 Build 19045.5912, also known as update KB5058481, is currently available to the Release Preview Channel for Windows Insiders. It is expected to roll out to all users as an optional update later this month.
