Taskbar Enhancements on the Horizon
Microsoft continues to refine the Windows 11 experience, particularly focusing on the taskbar, which has seen a series of updates recently. Although the significant Windows 11 2024 Update has just been released, the tech giant is already setting its sights on future enhancements.
According to insights shared by Twitter user @phantomofearth and reported by Windows Latest, a forthcoming version of Windows 11, currently in the hands of Insiders on the Beta Channel, introduces an intriguing feature: the ability to adjust the size of taskbar items.
In this latest Beta iteration, users will find a new toggle within the Taskbar section of Windows Settings, allowing them to Show smaller taskbar buttons. This feature comes with three options: Always, Never, and When the taskbar is full. It’s worth noting that, as of now, this setting is still undergoing adjustments and may not function perfectly.
This feature, reminiscent of a similar option in Windows 10, was inexplicably omitted during the initial launch of Windows 11. Its reintroduction offers users a valuable opportunity to optimize their screen space, making it a much-anticipated enhancement.
For those not participating in the Windows Insider Program, the general public can look forward to this feature becoming available sometime in November or December.
