Windows’ Recall Feature: A Marketing Misstep

Windows recently launched a new ad campaign for its now-defunct Recall feature on Copilot+ PCs, dubbing it as “your new photographic memory.” However, Recall was canceled weeks ago due to privacy concerns and negative feedback.

The Recall ad campaign spans across Meta and X platforms, with nine new campaigns launched on July 3rd. These ads showcase Recall’s functionality, which included monitoring screen usage and taking screenshots for easy retrieval.

Copilot+ PCs, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Arm processors, aim to rival Apple’s M-series chips with AI features like Recall. However, without Recall, the AI software suite falls short, as noted in reviews.

While there is speculation that Recall may make a comeback through a post-launch Windows update, there has been no official confirmation. Public opinion remains divided, with governmental agencies warning about privacy risks associated with the feature.
