Microsoft Just Uninstalled Copilot From Your PC

Microsoft has recently rolled out its Patch Tuesday update, addressing a total of 57 security vulnerabilities, including seven critical zero-day flaws. This update is highly recommended for all Windows users, as the zero-day vulnerabilities present significant security risks for PC users.

Copilot disappears in the latest Windows update

Users who have installed the updates KB5053598 for Windows 11 or KB5053606 for Windows 10 may find that Copilot has not only been unpinned from their taskbar but has also been completely uninstalled. While Microsoft has not provided a specific reason for this unexpected development, it has clarified that the bug does not affect the Microsoft 365 Copilot app, which is integrated into its Office suite.

The company is actively working on a new update to rectify this issue and restore access to Copilot for those affected. In the meantime, users eager to regain access can reinstall the app from the Microsoft Store and pin it back to their taskbar.

Interestingly, there is a segment of users who may not be inclined to reinstall Copilot. Many are actively seeking ways to disable the feature, and various tools are available to assist in its removal from Windows. This raises an ironic twist: the very company that has been vigorously promoting its AI tools has inadvertently removed them on behalf of users through a routine software patch.

While Copilot does offer several potential advantages for Windows users—and even Mac users now—those who have yet to find value in these AI tools since the launch of ChatGPT may welcome Microsoft’s unintentional decision to eliminate its flagship assistant from their systems.
