Windows 11 24H2 Resumes Rollout
After a brief hiatus, Windows 11 24H2 is back with build 26100.863 being quietly released by Microsoft. The announcement on June 15 provided limited details beyond the build number, but a support article for KB5039239 shed more light on the update.
According to Microsoft, the latest build fixes Bluetooth audio issues, problems with BattlEye anti-cheat under Arm64, and enhances the Copilot experience. The Copilot change aims to make the assistant act more like an app pinned to the taskbar, allowing users to resize, move, and snap the window.
Windows 11, version 24H2 is specifically designed for Copilot+ PCs, which are set to launch on June 18 with AI silicon for advanced capabilities. While Windows Insiders do not require Copilot+ hardware yet, meeting the current Windows 11 hardware requirements is necessary for updating to Windows 11 24H2.
Microsoft initially stated that a Copilot+ PC was needed to run the controversial Recall logging feature, but has since retracted that requirement. The company faced criticism over Recall and has delayed its implementation, with the first wave of Copilot+ PCs launching without the service. Recall will be rolled out to Windows Insider Program members first before being available to all Copilot+ PCs.
Despite some instability in the Release Preview channel, Windows 11 24H2 is now back on track for Windows Insiders, with builds for Windows 11 22H2 and 23H2 also released recently on June 13.
