Windows 11 22H2 Reaches End-of-Service Date
Microsoft has been making headlines with its push for users to upgrade to Windows 11, and now there’s news that an older version of the operating system is also reaching its end-of-service date. According to a recent blog post, Windows 11 22H2, released in October 2022, will no longer receive security and preview updates after October 8, 2024.
If you’re still on Windows 11 22H2, it’s essential to update to the 23H2 version to continue receiving security updates. This applies to Windows Home, Pro, and Business users, but non-managed business computers will be automatically updated by Microsoft to ensure they receive the necessary updates.
To update to the latest version of Windows 11, users can go to Settings > Windows Update > Check updates on their eligible PCs. It’s crucial to make this update within 90 days to avoid leaving your computer vulnerable to cyber threats.
Rumors suggest that a Windows 11 24H2 version may be released in October, so it’s advisable not to wait for this update and instead move to the latest version available. Delaying the update could expose your PC to risks such as malware and viruses.
For users still on Windows 10, ensure that your PC meets the necessary system requirements before upgrading to Windows 11. These requirements include 4GB of RAM or more, Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0, a 1GHz or faster CPU, 64GB of storage, a compatible GPU with DirectX 12, and a 720p display larger than 9 inches.
