Microsoft’s new Copilot app for Windows has an improved UI

Microsoft is making significant strides in enhancing user experience with the return of its Copilot application as a native Windows app. After a brief period during which it functioned solely as a basic web app, the company is now rolling out a revamped version to Windows Insiders this week. This new iteration is crafted using native XAML, showcasing a fresh side panel and an improved user interface that aligns with contemporary design standards.

The latest Copilot app mirrors the recently launched macOS version, introducing features such as image uploads and the capability to generate both images and text. Users will also appreciate the addition of microphone interaction, allowing for a more conversational engagement with the app. Furthermore, the updated sidebar provides easy access to conversation history, enhancing usability and functionality.

Initially introduced as a “personal assistant” integrated within Windows 11, Copilot saw a shift in strategy when Microsoft opted to transition it to a basic web app. This change, however, diminished its utility on new Copilot Plus PCs. In response to user feedback, the software giant has since implemented keyboard shortcuts and refined the app’s appearance to reduce its resemblance to a web application. The latest update marks a notable improvement, presenting a more cohesive and polished experience.

Currently, the new Copilot app is being rolled out to Windows Insiders via the Microsoft Store, with expectations that it will become available on all Windows 11 PCs in the forthcoming weeks.
