Releasing Windows 10 Build 19045.6029 to the Release Preview Channel

Today marks the release of Windows 10 22H2 Build 19045.6029 (KB5061087) to the Release Preview Channel, specifically for those utilizing Windows 10, version 22H2. This update introduces a variety of enhancements and fixes designed to improve user experience and system performance.

Key Features and Improvements

  • [Mobile Operator Profiles] Updated: Enhancements have been made to the Country and Operator Settings Asset (COSA) profiles.
  • [App Platforms and Frameworks]
    • Resolved an issue that impacted Component Object Model (COM) functionality on Windows platforms, specifically where remote COM activations were failing with error 0x8001011.
    • The version of the curl tool included in Windows has been upgraded to v8.13.0.
  • [App Defaults] New! A series of minor adjustments are being rolled out in the EEA region regarding default browsers through the Set default button found in Settings > Apps > Default apps:
    • Additional file and link types will now be associated with the newly set default browser, provided it registers them.
    • The new default browser will automatically pin itself to the Taskbar and Start menu, unless the user opts out by unchecking the relevant boxes.
    • A dedicated one-click button has been introduced for browsers to change the default for .pdf files, contingent on the browser’s registration for that file type.
  • [Authentication Platform] Fixed an issue that affected device registration within the Entra ID Windows Account Manager (WAM) plugin.
  • [Input and Composition] Resolved a problem that hindered the complete removal of unused language packs and Feature on Demand (FOD) packages, which previously led to unnecessary storage consumption and prolonged Windows Update installation times.
  • [Print and Peripherals] Addressed an issue affecting USB-connected Multi-Function printers with dual protocol interfaces, where scanning could fail and obstruct the use of the operating system’s built-in scanning capabilities.
  • [Start Menu]
    • Fixed an issue that caused jump lists to disappear from the Start Menu.
    • Resolved a problem where the Start Menu failed to launch following an update installation.
  • [Settings] Corrected an anomaly where Settings > System > About unexpectedly displayed version 2009 instead of the intended version 22H2.
  • [Servicing] Fixed an issue where Kiosk devices employing the ForceAutoLogon configuration and Shift Override might become unresponsive with a blue screen after being locked and subsequently unlocked by support administrators.
  • [File Server] Resolved a problem that could cause the system to hang when acknowledging an Oplock break on resources located on SMB shares.
