Hello Windows Insiders, an exciting update is underway for the Snipping Tool, now rolling out to users in the Canary and Dev Channels of Windows 11.
Snipping Tool (version 11.2503.27.0)
Text Extractor
This latest version introduces a new feature: the text extractor, strategically placed in the Snipping Tool capture bar. This enhancement aims to streamline the process of copying text to your clipboard, eliminating the need to take a screenshot first.
To begin utilizing this feature, simply open the Snipping Tool using the shortcut Win + Shift + S or launch the app directly. You will find the new “Text Extractor” button conveniently located in the toolbar.
Once you’ve accessed the tool, select the area you wish to scan for text, just as you would with a standard rectangle snip. You have the option to manually select the text you want to copy, or you can opt for the “Copy all text” button in the toolbar for a quicker solution. Additionally, the “More options” dropdown menu offers features such as “Remove line breaks” from the copied text or the streamlined “Automatically copy text” selection. The latter will dismiss the Snipping Tool promptly, automatically transferring all text from your selected region directly to your clipboard.
FEEDBACK: Please file feedback in Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under Apps > Snipping Tool. Your insights are invaluable, and we eagerly await your thoughts and suggestions regarding these updates!
