Windows 11 Pro users are still unable to upgrade to the Enterprise version

An ongoing Windows 11 problem

Back in April this year, Microsoft released an update for Windows 11 users, KB5036893. The update introduced some new improvements, but it also had its fair share of issues. Microsoft addressed these in the update log, including one that prevented users from upgrading from Windows 11 Pro to Enterprise. So yes, the issue has been around since April. Even though the company mentioned that they are working on a fix for it and it will be released through one of the upcoming updates, nothing of the sort happened yet. After two months, on June 11, Microsoft released yet another update for Windows 11 22H2 and 23H2 users, KB5039212. However, while it did make some quality improvements, it also had a few issues. One of them, again, prevents users from upgrading to the Enterprise subscription. According to Microsoft, users who try to upgrade are facing the ‘Access denied error (error code 0x80070005).’ They did mention that they are working on a fix for it, but they said the same after the April update. And just like last time, we don’t have an exact date for when the issue will be resolved.

Is there any fix for it?

At the moment, there is no workaround for the issue. All we can do is wait for Microsoft to release a fix in an upcoming update. However, the company will need to act quickly, as many people are looking to upgrade their Windows 11 to the Enterprise version. In other news, Microsoft recently officially released Windows 11 24H2 for only Copilot+ PCs. This version was previously available to Insiders.
