In a recent update shared on the Windows Insider blog, Microsoft has unveiled an innovative feature for its Dev Channel users, aptly named “Describe Image.” This functionality can be accessed through the Click to Do menu on Copilot+ PCs, enhancing the user experience with a touch of AI sophistication.
Enhancing Visual Accessibility
The Describe Image feature leverages the local AI capabilities of the computer to generate comprehensive descriptions of various visual elements, including images, charts, and graphs. This capability allows users to swiftly grasp the essence of visual content without the need for extensive examination.
Upon the initial use of this feature, the necessary AI models are established, ensuring that subsequent image descriptions are generated locally. This local processing guarantees that sensitive data remains secure, as no information is transmitted outside the user’s PC.
Currently, this feature is being rolled out to Windows Insiders utilizing Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs, with plans to extend availability to users with AMD and Intel Copilot+ systems in the near future.
