Windows 11 Version 23H2 Update Now Available to All Users

Microsoft has officially announced that the Windows 11 Version 23H2 update is now “broadly available” to all Windows 11 users with eligible devices as of July 2024. Despite some initial issues with crashing and boot loops, particularly for users of virtualization software, these bugs have been addressed in the latest update released last week.

The 2023 Update was originally intended to be a cumulative release of Windows 11’s advancements from the previous year. Compared to the 2022 cumulative update, the 2023 Update now includes several new features and security enhancements. Some of these features, such as Copilot, have been available since June 2023 in preview builds of Windows 11, or even backported to Windows 10 before its support ended.

For Windows Insiders and users who regularly opt into optional updates, the official release of 23H2 may not offer anything new. However, for those who have been holding off on updating Windows 11 to avoid bugs, the 2023 Update is now available for installation.

Future feature additions, such as enhanced Copilot+ support, Wi-Fi 7 compatibility, native 7-Zip and TAR support, are expected to be included in the upcoming Windows 11 24H2 release. This major update is currently only available on PCs with Copilot+ features enabled, specifically laptops with Snapdragon X Elite and Plus processors.

Microsoft aims for a smoother rollout of Windows 11 24H2 compared to the challenges faced during the release of 23H2 from Insider previews in September 2023 to the finalized release in July 2024.
