Press to Talk
In the latest Windows 11 Insider build, a new feature dubbed Press to Talk has been introduced. This allows users to engage with Copilot in conversation mode using a simple hotkey. By holding down the Alt key and the Spacebar for two seconds, users can now initiate a voice chat effortlessly. Once activated, Copilot will greet you and begin the dialogue.

If there’s a pause in conversation for several seconds, the AI will automatically conclude the chat. Alternatively, pressing the Esc key will end the interaction, causing the microphone icon to vanish from the screen. Currently, triggering Copilot in Windows involves pressing Alt + Spacebar, which directs you to a standard prompt for typing requests or selecting the microphone for voice interaction. Users can also enable or disable the hotkey and set Copilot to launch automatically upon starting Windows.
