Your Windows 11 Calendar flyout finally knows what time it is but only if you do this

As Windows 10 approaches its end of life, users are increasingly looking towards Windows 11 as the next step in their computing journey. Despite some reservations about the upgrade, particularly regarding the absence of certain features, Microsoft is actively working to entice users by reintroducing beloved functionalities from its predecessor. A notable addition is the long-requested clock feature in the Windows 11 Calendar flyout, which has recently made its debut following significant user feedback.

Windows 11 Calendar flyout gets a clock, but it’s not for everyone yet

The clock feature, which was a staple in Windows 10’s Calendar flyout, had been removed in a recent update. However, Microsoft has responded to user demand by reintegrating this functionality into Windows 11. The Calendar flyout can be accessed by clicking the date and time on the taskbar, similar to how it functioned in Windows 10. While this addition is a welcome change, it is important to note that the feature is not universally available at this time.

Currently, the clock support in the Windows 11 Calendar flyout is exclusive to users operating on Insider build 22635.5240 (23H2) within the Beta Channel. Those on the stable versions of Windows 11, including 24H2 and 23H2, will not have access to this feature just yet. Furthermore, even for those in the Beta Channel, the clock is not automatically enabled upon updating; it requires a specific activation process.

How to enable the clock in the Windows 11 Calendar flyout

For those eager to enable the clock feature, the process involves using a tool called ViveTool. After familiarizing yourself with the software, the next step is to open the Command Prompt with administrative privileges. Users will need to input the command to enable id:42651849 and then restart explorer.exe. Following this, navigate to the Date & time settings page and enable Show time in Notification Center. If the clock does not appear, an additional command using id:48433719 may be necessary, along with the same steps outlined above, to successfully bring the clock to the Windows 11 Calendar flyout.
