Merge Games axes Chelford office
Publisher Merge Games is set to close its Chelford office in the UK, marking a significant shift in its operational strategy. According to reports from GI.biz, the exact number of employees affected by this decision remains undisclosed. This move is part of a broader integration of Merge’s portfolio into its parent company, Maximum Entertainment.
Strategic Realignment
CEO Christina Seelye, pictured, addressed the situation, stating, “Within the context of previously announced reductions, we made the difficult but necessary decision to take further cost-cutting measures, and these unfortunately include staff redundancies.” Her comments reflect the challenging landscape in which the company finds itself.
Seelye emphasized the need for the company to emerge from this transition stronger and more streamlined, as they prepare for a competitive roadmap ahead. “As a recently integrated company with a full and competitive roadmap ahead of us, we must finish the year and enter 2025 stronger and leaner to continue our best work,” she added.
This restructuring follows Zordix’s rebranding of its games business as Maximum Entertainment earlier in 2023, indicating a strategic pivot aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and market competitiveness.
