In an exciting development within the indie gaming sector, a group of former employees from Humble Games has launched a new publishing venture known as Good Games Group. This initiative is spearheaded by industry veterans Alan Patmore and Mark Nash, who previously played pivotal roles at Humble Games.
Continuity and Collaboration
Good Games Group aims to maintain the collaborative spirit of its predecessor by working closely with several developers that Humble Games had previously partnered with. This strategic move comes on the heels of a significant restructuring at Humble Games, where all 36 staff members were let go by parent company Ziff Davis just three months ago. In the interim, The Powell Group has been enlisted to oversee ongoing projects, ensuring a seamless transition during this period of change.
Steve Horowitz, the head of Ziff Davis, expressed optimism about the future of Humble Games, stating, “We’re excited for the future of Humble Games. As we work on a great lineup of games coming to market in 2024 and beyond, as well as seek new opportunities, our strategic partnership with The Powell Group has helped weather a difficult time in the games industry.” He emphasized that this collaboration is designed to provide a solid foundation for success while nurturing creativity within the indie gaming landscape.
Patmore, now at the helm of Good Games Group, articulated the new venture’s mission: “Good Games Group’s mission is to bring exceptional indie games to the global gaming community. Partnering with Ziff Davis allows us to continue working with the amazing indie developers we collaborated with at Humble Games, while also allowing us to chart a new course for the future.”
As Good Games Group embarks on this promising journey, the indie gaming community watches with anticipation, eager to see how this fresh endeavor will unfold and contribute to the vibrant world of independent game development.
