Samsung has unveiled its latest innovation, One UI 7, which introduces a suite of Galaxy AI features designed to enhance the writing experience for users. This update brings advanced writing assist tools that offer a range of personalization options, seamlessly integrated into the One UI operating system.
Enhanced Writing Tools
At the heart of these new features is an on-device large language model (LLM) that activates when users select text from their screens. This interaction triggers a pop-up editing menu, prominently featuring the Galaxy AI icon, allowing for easy access to the writing tools card.
The writing tools card presents six distinct options:
- Spelling and grammar
- Writing style
- Summarize
- Bullet point
- Composer
Each of these tools serves a unique purpose:
- Spelling and grammar: This tool meticulously checks the selected content for errors, providing corrections to ensure a polished final version.
- Writing style: Users can explore various tones, including formal and casual, allowing them to see different renditions of the same text.
- Summarize: True to its name, this feature condenses extensive content into a concise paragraph, making it easier to grasp the essence of larger texts.
- Bullet points: This option transforms lengthy paragraphs into digestible bullet points, enhancing readability and comprehension.
- Composer: This innovative tool enables users to generate content based on specific descriptions, with customizable parameters such as tone.
Generative AI
These writing assist tools are part of Samsung’s advanced Galaxy AI capabilities and are currently available in the One UI 7 beta for the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra. As the beta program evolves, these features are expected to roll out to additional Galaxy AI-compatible devices. However, users should note that non-Galaxy AI devices may not support these features due to limitations in computing power.
