The Pixel 9 Pro provides smooth performance, but users may experience lag with other phones. Caution is advised when using "optimizer" apps from the Google Play Store, as they may offer little benefit and could introduce malware. Built-in settings on Android phones can enhance performance without third-party apps. To access these features, enable Developer Options by tapping the Build Number seven times in the About Phone section of Settings. Adjustments to improve performance include: 1. Modifying animation settings: - Window animation scale: Controls speed of pop-up windows and menus. - Transition animation scale: Manages animation speed when switching screens. - Animator duration scale: Affects duration of internal UI animations. Setting these to 0.5x or turning them off can improve speed. 2. Reducing background processes: - Limit background processes to "At most 4 processes" for better performance, especially on devices with 4GB RAM or less. These adjustments can lead to a smoother and more responsive user experience.

YouTube has introduced a feature allowing users to set their Shorts usage limit to zero minutes, effectively blocking access to the Shorts tab on the home feed. This setting can be found under Time management in the app's settings. Once the limit is reached, users will receive a notification when attempting to access the Shorts tab. Shorts will still be accessible through subscriptions and shared links. Initially available for parents, this feature is now being rolled out to all users.

88% of U.S. adults with laptops have taken measures against potential malware in the past year. Among those who encountered malware, 60% manually deleted the file or closed the offending website, while 35% initiated an anti-malware scan. Recommended steps for responding to a malware infection include disconnecting the device from Wi-Fi, connecting to a guest network, using antivirus software to remove the threat, and performing a factory reset or wiping the hard drive if necessary. It is advised to run at least two different antivirus programs to ensure comprehensive protection and to avoid restoring data from backups that may harbor malware.

Users are encouraged to switch themselves for a smoother transition, with advantages including enhanced AI capabilities, multi-device connectivity, and RCS Messaging. The exact date for the discontinuation has yet to be provided. Users will receive in-app notifications to guide them through the transition, or they can manually download Google Messages and set it as their default SMS app. Samsung Messages will not be available for download on new devices, including the Galaxy S26. Users with Android 12 or 13 will need to manually add the Google Messages icon to their home screen dock after switching.
