A Minecraft Movie is set to bring the beloved block-building universe to the big screen in a comedic adaptation that has already sparked a range of opinions. While reviews are yet to be published, the initial trailer released last year has been described as ‘divisive’. The blend of live-action performances and vibrant CGI has raised eyebrows, particularly regarding how the game’s iconic block aesthetic translates into a cinematic format. However, the critical evaluation of the film’s quality will be reserved for another discussion.
Immersive Experience Launching in London
In conjunction with the film’s release, an exciting immersive experience titled Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue is set to debut in London this April. This interactive show invites participants to navigate through seven biome-themed rooms, all designed to rescue a village under siege from a relentless zombie horde. The challenge is to thwart the transformation of those bitten by zombies before the clock runs out.
While the concept may sound straightforward, the execution promises to be anything but. Designed by the innovative production company Supply + Demand, the CEO describes Villager Rescue as an “entirely new form of in-person experience at the crossroads of game design, experiential storytelling, and high-tech multimedia.”

The immersive experience has already made waves in Dallas, Texas, where participants explored intricately designed environments reminiscent of the Minecraft world. The live-action elements are enhanced through augmented reality, delivered via a handheld device known as the Orb of Interaction. Feedback from attendees has been largely positive, although it’s worth noting that the experience lasts approximately 45 minutes, a duration that seems well-suited for younger audiences.
Launching on April 4 at the newly established Corner Corner venue in Canada Water, Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue is poised for an open-ended run. Ticket prices start at £20 for children and £26 for adults, making it an accessible outing for families.
Tickets for the experience will go on sale on February 14 at 10 am, and interested individuals can join a waitlist through the official website.
